About the Instructor:

Bob Brennan, founder and director of SpringHeart, mobilizing martial arts communities to end child slavery.

Bob’s passion for martial arts was sparked over 30 years ago when he first started wrestling. Since then, he has become a 6th degree black belt in Kenpo. His in-depth journey into martial arts included living one year in Korea studying Hapkido as well as studying Chinese martial arts systems full time for over two years in both China and the U.S. Bob is also fluent in Chinese, deepening his cultural and technical understanding and enabling him to study with some of the best martial arts teachers in the world. For the past seven months, Bob has taught self-defense to children who are at risk for being exploited, abused, trafficked or enslaved in Kathmandu.

Why Self-Defense?

Self-defense is about awareness and knowledge.

It starts with the three principles:

1. Know yourself

2. Know your enemy

3. Know your environment.

Learning self-defense techniques is not enough to prepare for the stark reality of a violent attack. One must cultivate awareness, initiative, positioning and timing. Every animal has instinctive methods of defending themselves and their children. Humans also retain this capacity, though for many it lies frozen within. Learn to unleash your innate ability to defend yourself and your loved ones.
